My name is Emily and I am the founder of T for Teacher. I am a fully qualified teacher and tutor based in Banbury and offer private lessons to Primary aged pupils both in person and online. I have over 10 years experience as a teacher and additional experience as a school leader and Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO). Teaching children with SEN is both my area of specialism and my passion. I have extensive experience teaching children with a range of additional needs (including autism, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and Speech and language difficulties) and I am an expert in reducing cognitive barriers to learning. I’m Jourdan. I’m a fully qualified primary school teacher with six years of experience teaching in the UK and internationally. I’ve worked mainly in Key Stage 2, teaching Year 3 to Year 6 across two different curriculums, which has really broadened my understanding of how children learn best. My experience has taught me how to adapt lessons to suit different learning needs, and how to help each child feel seen and supported.
For the past four years, I’ve worked abroad with children from a wide range of backgrounds, many of whom speak English as an additional language or have special educational needs. This has helped shape a flexible and thoughtful teaching style that always puts the child first.
I believe that before children can make progress, they need to feel secure, confident, and understood. That’s why I focus on building trust and developing each child’s sense of self-belief. Once a child feels confident, they become far more open to learning and more willing to try.
My tutoring sessions are adventurous, engaging, and tailored to the individual. Whether your child needs help catching up, growing their confidence, or deepening their understanding in subjects like reading or maths, I’m here to help them thrive. Not just academically, but personally too.

My name is Emma. I am a fully qualified teacher and a specialist dyslexia tutor and assessor. I have over 20 years’ experience in education, including teaching in primary classrooms and in specialist SEN schools. My particular interest is in supporting children who learn differently. I enjoy adapting my lessons to suit each learner’s unique profile, including their strengths, interests, and specific starting points.
In my most recent teaching role, I led an Enhanced Pathway for ten SEN pupils as they transitioned into secondary school, and I also provided KS3 literacy interventions for individuals and small groups. Having enjoyed working one-to-one and with small groups, I recently stepped away from class teaching to focus on private tutoring, and I am excited to work again with a wider age range of learners. Having taught from Early Years through to KS4, I bring a thorough understanding of child development and curriculum progression to my tutoring practice.
As a dyslexia tutor and assessor, I provide full diagnostic assessments and write individualised reports outlining the learner’s strengths and needs, with bespoke recommendations to support future reading, writing, and spelling. I also deliver tailored one-to-one specialist tutoring using multisensory approaches, helping learners capitalise on their strengths, understand their challenges, and develop practical strategies that unlock learning.
I combine supportive, personalised teaching with practical, multisensory approaches to make learning fun, engaging, and effective. Building positive, respectful relationships is central to my approach. I take time to listen to each learner, helping them feel valued and secure. This approach supports pupils to build confidence, recognise their strengths, and develop skills they can use independently, both in the classroom and beyond.

My name is Hannah, a fully qualified teacher, dyslexia teacher and dyslexia assessor based just outside Banbury in Oxfordshire. Having qualified as a Primary School teacher in 2012, I spent over 6 years as a classroom teacher and have additional experience as Phonics coordinator. I also have extensive experience teaching children with a range of additional needs including autism, ADHD, Speech and language difficulties and global delay. For the past 6 years I have worked as a teacher in a resource base, supporting children with various needs to access education.
In June 2023, I qualified as a specialist teacher teaching children and young people with literacy difficulties. I am able to produce and teach individualised lessons for students who have literacy difficulties. Following an assess, plan, do review approach I adopt multi-sensory approaches to enable children and young people to discover their strengths and understand their challenges and learn strategies to unlock learning within education and beyond.
I also hold an Assessment Practicing Certificate (APS) and am able to assess and for and produce diagnostic dyslexia reports. These reports can be used within educational settings to provide additional support for your child / young person across the curriculum.

My name is Lucy, a fully qualified primary school teacher and Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO), with 30 years’ experience in education. My background includes classroom teaching, SENCO leadership, and work as a Communication and Interaction Advisory Teacher for a Local Authority.
I focus on building trusting relationships with students and using their interests to support engagement in learning. I also provide a consistent structure, so students know what to expect at each stage of their tutoring session.
I use the Assess, Plan, Do, Review cycle to tailor learning to each student’s needs. In my sessions, I draw on a range of strategies, including visual supports, concrete resources, and breaking tasks into clear, manageable steps.

Hello, I’m Laura! I qualified as a primary school teacher in 2011 and have spent many years doing what I love most — helping children grow in confidence, discover what they’re capable of and develop a positive relationship with learning.
One of the things I love most about teaching is really getting to know each child, understanding their individual needs and finding ways to help them feel happy and supported in their learning. It’s one of the reasons I’m so drawn to tutoring; it provides the opportunity to work closely with each child and tailor learning in a way that works best for them.
I’m particularly passionate about children’s mental health and emotional wellbeing, and believe children learn best when they feel safe, understood and valued. When tutoring, I take a warm, nurturing and encouraging approach, helping children recognise their strengths and develop greater belief in themselves.
Outside of teaching, I love spending time with my husband and daughter, exploring new places and going for walks. I’m also a huge book lover, happiest at the beach, partial to chocolate and rarely far away from a cup of Yorkshire tea!
